The food industry continues to boom despite environmental and economic setbacks.
Among some of the trends shaping the industry include the continued rise of e-commerce fueled in part by the pandemic’s influence on in-store shopping, the increase in environmentally-driven purchases with Gen Z and Millennials leading this charge, and, of course, continued investment in wellness and ingredient transparency.
“The big takeaway is that specialty food has produced consistent growth every year through good (economic stability) and bad (pandemic, high inflation). People care about their food choices, younger generations are increasingly engaged consumers, and share of grocery spending that goes to specialty food rises every year,” Denise Purcell, Specialty Food Association’s Vice President, Resource Development, said in a release.
So what does that mean for the job market? And what roles should food industry professionals be eyeing to build their careers?
According to ForceBrands’ 2024 Food and Non-Alc Beverage Salary Report, the industry’s hottest roles include Chief Financial Officers, Chief Operations Officers, SVPs of Sales, and Heads of Marketing.
